The Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon, recently visited the Kalampangan Research Station and restoration site. Guided by CIMTROP Director and our long-term supporter, Dr Suwido Limin, Mr Ki-moon learnt about the problems of peat loss, drainage and fire, and resultant carbon emissions and biodiversity loss.

This highlights the international relevance of these issues at an important time, immediately preceding the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change’s 17th Conference of the Parties meeting in Durban, South Africa.
