Congratulations to Supian from our Kelasi behaviour team for these great photos of a Horsfield's Tarsier (Tarsius bancanus ssp borneanus), one of the rarest primates in the Sabangau forest. Tarsiers are small nocturnal primates and these days they are found only in South East Asia. They have previously been recorded in Sabangau but are seen perhaps only once a year.
Tarsiers move by hopping between vertical tree-trunks and vines, feeding on insects and small vertebrates. The photos give a good clear view of the muscular hind legs, long clasping fingers, huge round eyes (for night vision), forward-pointing ears and long tail. The cute face also helps.
